Samorost 2 Introduction
Samorost 2 is set in outer space, where everything is in the dark, feeling both menacing and a little surreal. You are a Gnome Dwarf dressed in white, with a strangely long nose. One day in the dwarf’s garden, a spaceship landed and two alien thieves came out and tried to steal fruit from the garden. Your dog discovered and barked loudly, so he was caught by these two guys on the spaceship.

Gnome is a gentle and brave guy. He lives with his dog in a large field. One day, two aliens burst into the field, they wanted to steal berries. Gnome’s dog tries to stop them, and as a result, they are taken away on the spaceship. Gnome immediately chased to rescue his pet dog. He accidentally got caught up in a thrilling adventure in space. Infiltrate an alien spaceship, explore novel planets, and many other interesting things are waiting for him. Can you help Gnome find his pet dog and help them return home safely?
Like any other player, I also tried to touch everything when I first played this game. Find something you can interact with, then see what it can do to help you solve the problem. For example, in the first scene, Gnome is tied up by a tree after first setting foot on an alien planet. I tried leaving a rodent on a tree trunk (I don’t know what it is), as a result, the tree released the Gnome. He can safely go to the next puzzle.
The game adds an achievement system, where important milestones of the player are saved. You also have the opportunity to receive many interesting items and gifts.
- Enhanced graphics with full-screen support.
- A bunch of game design tweaks.
- Revamped save system (no more level codes!).
- New zoom feature.
MasterQ 19: Five stars overall. The graphics are exceptional, the music is delightful, but the puzzles can be a bit frustrating (if you get hopelessly stuck, a quick Google search will direct you to a walk through). Unfortunately I was spoiled by the extensive worlds of Samarost 3 so this one seemed WAY too short.
Anne-Marie Poulin-Corriveau: Good game with a extraordinary design ! I recommend it , a good puzzle game with great world immersion. I juste wish you could explore it more freely and not one task after the other obligatorily. It’s the only less enjoyable thing and they fixed it in the third ! Samorost 3 is a master peace ! Please try it! 🙂
Jennifer Hanson: I have given 5 starts to every other Amanita game and I was SO excited to see this released. The issue is that it’s really short (like finished in under an hour short). The game itself has all of the artistry and creativity of the other games and is super fun, but for the money paid, I wish it was longer.
Matevž Kunaver: One should note that this is a remake of one of their first (flash) games and therefore lacks the challenge of Samorost 3 or Machinarium. But it is nevertheless great to have and replay 😀 Hope they port the new games (creaks and pilgrim) soon.
