The app gives you a full analysis of your voice in terms of depth and variety and calculates a set of celebrity matches to give you a grounding of what your results mean.
The app helps you improve your voice. Currently this includes an on-the-fly pitch tracker – so you can practise different ways of speaking and immediately see their effect – as well as unlimited archive space, celebrity comparison graphs, and a charting tool so you can track your progress over time.

Strengthen your Neck Muscles.
I’ve seen a lot of talk about this online, so I wanted to start by confirming here: this truly does work. Actually, it’s my favourite method of all of them.
If you put your hand on your throat, you’ll feel two long muscles which run down from behind your ear to your collarbone. These are your sternocleidomastoids, and when they get tense they tug on your vocal chords, resulting in a higher note. Relax these and, logically enough, your voice gets lower. -
Breathe from the Diaphragm.
Ever noticed how your shoulders bob up and down as you breathe in and out?
If you’re have, you’re doing it wrong. This is a thing called ‘shallow breathing’ and it’s something most people are guilty of. While it seems as good as any method, this kind of breath shifts effort to the upper half of the torso, putting tension on the neck and vocal chords. -
Aspirate+
You can try this one for yourself and immediately see its effect. Open Vocular and enable the Pitch Tracker in Settings, then speak to the microphone in your normal voice and see what numbers come up.
Now try talking in a breathier, more aspirated kind of way, as if you’re speaking through a sigh. If you need someone to copy, Tom Hiddleston’s a pretty good example. -
Drink More Water
Please don’t skip over this section, because it’s a lot more important than you might think. You know how the depth of your voice is partly caused by the size of your vocal chords? Well, dehydration literally shrinks your vocal chords. The loss of water equates to a loss of mass, leaving you with thinner, squeakier vocal chords.
And, strikingly, most people are dehydrated. A recent study found that 75% of Americans fell far below the recommended daily intake, which, again, gives us a majority of people speaking with higher voices than they ought to be. -
Be More Monotone
I’ve noticed a few names that come up time and time again when discussing voice depth. One of these names is Clint Eastwood. But the weird thing here is that, in terms of pitch, Eastwood doesn’t have a deep voice. It’s about average.

AJ Moreno: The app is superb at what it does, though I’ve hit a snag when it comes to doing updates where some of the recordings in my archive have been corrupted and are either blank or missing entirely. I’m not too sure what that’s about, but beyond that, it runs smoothly for the most part.
Amir Al Khatib: Hi Would it be possible to add screen rotation support or allow you to swipe through the different result sections without having to click on them at the top? Im asking since my screen has broken touch sensitivity at the top and while in other apps I can get around it through rotating the phone around that is not possible here. Thank you.
Yasin Patel: This is a good app. It is accurate and only takes into value vocal sound and not other sounds like tapping, coughing ect. However, there’s a few things which are missing or needs improvement on the Android version. I will list them below. 1). There is no “Highest” field under “Analysis”. I’d like to know my highest vocal frequency. 2). When you select your celebrity matches under “Similar to” and check the distribution comparisons, i.e it says “Yours” and then a celebrities name, it’s difficult to identify which line in graph shows your distribution and which one shows the celebrity distribution that you’ve compared with. The colour code which identifies “Yours” and the celebrity is not accurate. 3). I feel the app takes longer than expected to execute, maybe a good 7+ seconds. Thank you for your time.
